This seed blend of sorghum sudan grass, pearl millet, cowpeas, sunn hemp, berseem clover and daikon radish is a superb warm season, diverse cover crop mixture. Planted in mid-to-late summer, this mix of species has the ability to grow an outstanding amount of biomass, and the potential to fix large amounts of nitrogen. This high-output seed blend is perfect after a small grain harvest when there is plenty of time left in the warm growing season. Even growing this mix one out of every three years, producers can reap significant gains in soil health, nutrient cycling, water infiltration and utilization, and add diversity into crop rotations. These species will winter-kill in northern climates needing no management in the spring.
